Level: Lahni’s Village (Recollection)
Responsible for Lahni’s Village level (Recollection) in the Gears 5 Hivebusters DLC.
Collaborated seamlessly with every major department throughout the cycle to produce one of the DLC’s most exciting levels.
Created all custom interactions used in the level, including custom environmental storytelling iteractions that helped enhance the narrative.
Created and maintained the level script with a constant eye to efficiency.
Placed pickups, collectibles, and weapons in meaningful ways that enhanced the gameplay focus for that beat and also narrative.
Designed 1 of only 2 custom stealth combat beats in the DLC.
Created and maintained streaming for the level.
Instituted save/load across the map
Maintained the integrity of the 3D layout, the level script; as well as pawn collisions, cover nodes, and streaming.
Prototyped unique features such as interactive foliage, collapsing pillars, two easter eggs, a custom mech suit pawn, and jump scares.
Interactive Foliage & Jump Scares
Creating a tense beat with Juvies jumping out of bushes, and seeing the interactive foliage rustle and shake as the Juvies rush towards you.
Lahni’s Village - Level Playthrough
The first half of the level is a bit of misdirection. It’s all exploration beats until the Town Hall. I won’t spoil the surprise but it’s all combat after that, culminating with a power fantasy beat in a rideable Mech suit!
